Side Power GRP Bow Thruster Tunnel
The bow thruster tunnel 110mm to 185mm range includes Side Power GRP tunnel components for compatible marine thruster installations. These tunnels are offered in different inner diameters, lengths and wall thicknesses, with individual part numbers identifying each documented configuration.
The tunnel is an installation component, not a complete bow thruster. The motor, drive assembly, propeller, controls, wiring and other components of a complete thruster system are not represented by the tunnel itself.
GRP Thruster Tunnel
These Side Power tunnels use GRP (glass-reinforced plastic / fiberglass) construction. The available dimensions vary according to the tunnel configuration and intended thruster installation.
Tunnel selection should begin with the thruster model because the required inner diameter must correspond to the thruster and propeller configuration. Length and wall thickness should then be confirmed for the specific installation.

How to Select the Correct Tunnel
Start with the thruster model, not simply the available space in the hull.
For a replacement:
- Identify the existing Side Power thruster model.
- Confirm the required inner tunnel diameter.
- Verify the existing or required tunnel length.
- Check the specified wall thickness.
- Match those specifications to the corresponding Side Power part number.
- Confirm the complete configuration before ordering.
For a new installation:
- Determine the appropriate thruster model for the vessel.
- Identify the tunnel diameter specified for that thruster.
- Determine the tunnel length required by the vessel installation.
- Confirm the corresponding wall thickness.
- Match the required dimensions to the appropriate Side Power part number.
185 mm GRP Tunnel Options
The documented 185 mm configurations in this product use a 4.0 mm wall thickness and include:
- SM8001: 185 × 750 × 4 mm
- SM8010: 185 × 1000 × 4 mm
- SM8003: 185 × 1250 × 4 mm
- SM8015: 185 × 1500 × 4 mm
These configurations are associated with the Side Power 185 mm tunnel platform. Select the required length according to the installation rather than assuming all 185 mm tunnels are interchangeable.
140 mm GRP Tunnel Options
The documented 140 mm configurations use a 5.0 mm wall thickness:
- SM6030: 140 × 750 × 5 mm
- SM6031: 140 × 1000 × 5 mm
- SM6032: 140 × 1500 × 5 mm
- SM6033: 140 × 2500 × 5 mm
Because the wall thickness differs from the 110 mm and documented 185 mm configurations, use the complete dimensional specification and part number when identifying the required tunnel.
110 mm GRP Tunnel Options
The documented 110 mm configurations use a 4.0 mm wall thickness:
- SM4001: 110 × 750 × 4 mm
- SM4010: 110 × 1000 × 4 mm
Confirm that the thruster installation requires the 110 mm tunnel platform before selecting either length.
Why Diameter and Part Number Matter
The tunnel diameter corresponds to the thruster installation and should not be selected independently from the thruster model.
Length alone is also insufficient for identifying the correct component. Two tunnels can have similar lengths while using different diameters, wall thicknesses and part numbers.
For replacement applications, matching the diameter + length + wall thickness + part number provides a more reliable way to identify the required tunnel configuration.
Before Ordering
Confirm these specifications before purchasing:
- Thruster model
- Inner tunnel diameter
- Required tunnel length
- Wall thickness
- Side Power part number
- Installation requirements for the vessel
If you are replacing an existing tunnel, use its specifications and part number as reference whenever available. For a new installation, determine the correct thruster model and required tunnel diameter before selecting the tunnel dimensions.
