The Side Power SEP120/215T-IP thruster is a 24V DC proportional thruster designed around a 215 mm tunnel configuration with twin 5-blade propellers. It delivers 264 lb (120 kg) of thrust at 21VDC and 306 lb (139 kg) at 24VDC.

Unlike standard on/off thruster operation, the SEP proportional speed-control system allows the operator to select the amount of thrust needed for maneuvering. The system also includes Side Power’s Hold function, which allows the thruster to maintain thrust while positioning the boat at a dock or in locks.

Generation 1 vs. Generation 2

This SEP120/215T-IP is available with Generation 1 and Generation 2 options. Select the generation that corresponds to the required configuration when ordering.

Generation 2 is the updated version, featuring improved seals and durability while providing direct compatibility with the legacy Generation 1 model.

When replacing an existing SEP120/215T-IP, confirm the required generation together with the electrical and control-system specifications before ordering.

Ignition-Protected Configuration

The IP designation identifies the ignition-protected version of the SEP120/215T platform. This configuration is intended for gasoline-powered boats or applications where a splash- and humidity-protected motor enclosure is required.

The IP configuration is an important distinction when selecting a replacement unit and should not be confused with non-IP versions of the SEP120/215T.

Installation and System Considerations

The SEP120/215T-IP should be matched to the corresponding 215 mm tunnel and a compatible 24V Side Power proportional-control system. Voltage, generation, proportional-control architecture and ignition-protected configuration should all be checked when selecting a unit for an existing installation.

A complete thruster installation may also require:

• Bow tunnel or stern tunnel
• Compatible control panel and accessories
• Remote control
• Manual battery switch
• Fuse and fuse holder
• S-Link control cabling

For existing thrusters, the SMPPC8800 upgrade kit may also be applicable where specified for the system.
