The Side-Power SX100/185T is a transom-mounted external stern thruster designed for vessels that require strong stern maneuvering assistance without the need for a conventional internal stern-thruster installation. Featuring a 185 mm / 7.3 in external tunnel, this system is recommended for boats ranging from 40 to 56 ft.

Designed for demanding docking and close-quarters maneuvering, the SX100/185T delivers up to 116 kg / 256 lb of thrust, depending on system voltage. Its Twin Power propulsion system and twin propeller configuration provide efficient lateral movement and reliable stern control.

The pre-assembled GRP waterproof casing is fully ignition protected, making the unit suitable for challenging marine environments, including gasoline-powered vessels. Additional features such as a galvanically isolated gearhouse and Q-Propeller technology help improve durability while significantly reducing operational noise.

The SX100/185T is particularly well suited for boats where interior layout restrictions, limited space or stern-drive configurations make a traditional internal thruster impractical.

Installation & Component Compatibility

The SX100/185T functions as an independent propulsion unit mounted externally on the transom, providing responsive stern maneuvering when controlled from the helm.

For vessels with twin stern drives, optional stern tunnel cowls are recommended to optimize waterflow and improve performance.

To complete installation planning, additional components may be required and are sold separately, including:

• Control panels and remote controls
• AutoMainswitch and battery disconnect systems
• Fuse and fuseholder components
• 4-wire harnesses (when not using AutoMainswitch)
• 5-wire harnesses (for AutoMainswitch systems)

The system also features a lifetime-lubricated mechanical seal with ceramic and carbon surfaces, helping provide long-term protection against water intrusion.

How it Works & Safety Features

The SX100/185T operates as an externally mounted stern maneuvering system, delivering immediate lateral movement for improved docking and marina handling.

Its integrated Intelligent Power Control (IPC) system continuously monitors solenoid operation and introduces a protective delay between directional changes, helping safeguard the motor and gearleg from excessive mechanical stress.
