The Side-Power SE80/185T-IP is a 6HP electric tunnel thruster designed for compatible bow or stern installations where an ignition-protected motor assembly is required. The product family includes SE80/185T-12IP and SE80/185T-24IP configurations for 12V and 24V electrical systems.

Both versions use a 185 mm / 7.3 in tunnel and a twin-propeller propulsion system with 5-blade, fiberglass-reinforced composite propellers. The thruster is rated at 4.4 kW / 6 hp.

At nominal operating voltage, the SE80/185T-IP produces 80 kg / 176 lb of thrust at 10.5V or 21V. At full 12V or 24V system voltage, thrust increases to 96 kg / 212 lb. The documented typical vessel range is 35–48 ft / 10–15 m.

Ignition-Protected Design

The SE80/185T-IP conforms to ISO 8846 ignition-protection requirements and is designed for installations where explosive gasoline vapors may be present.

The electrical system incorporates protection against motor overheating and sudden changes in drive direction. A flexible coupling between the electric motor and drive shaft also provides mechanical protection if the propeller becomes jammed.

The integrated control system monitors the solenoids to reduce wear and the risk of solenoid lock-in, with automatic shutdown protection under specified fault or extended-run conditions.
