The Lumishore SMX54 is a high-output white/blue surface-mount underwater light designed for marine installations that require two practical lighting colors in a single fixture. White provides clean, high-visibility illumination around the stern or hull, while blue creates a distinctive underwater lighting effect at anchor or in the marina.

With 7,500 fixture lumens and a wide 90° beam, the SMX54 provides broad underwater coverage. Its marine-bronze body, borosilicate glass lens and IP68 construction are designed for submerged marine service.

How the SMX54 can be controlled

The SMX54 can operate directly from vessel power using a standard on/off switch. In this configuration, the fixture starts in white, while power cycling switches to blue and accesses the supported strobe or fade modes.

For more advanced control, the light is compatible with the SUPRA i-Connect Hub and related SUPRA control architecture, as well as the ECLIPSE Command Center. MFD and smart-device control depend on the selected Lumishore control components and should be planned as a system rather than assumed from the fixture alone.

Surface-mount installation and hull planning

Because the SMX54 is surface mounted, the hull opening is limited primarily to the cable pass-through rather than the larger opening required by a thru-hull fixture. The light mounts with three marine-bronze screws and needs a flat installation surface. Isolation sleeves are required on conductive hull materials, including wood and carbon fiber. Check access inside the hull, cable routing, circuit protection and the final light spacing before drilling.

• Confirm 12 V or 24 V DC vessel power and available circuit capacity.
• Choose whether simple blue/white switching is sufficient or whether SUPRA/ECLIPSE control is required.
• Confirm hull material and whether isolation hardware is necessary.
• Plan the number and spacing of fixtures before installation to avoid uneven illumination.
• If replacing an older SMX53, confirm mechanical and electrical compatibility rather than assuming a direct replacement.
